Default Whats the difference between 04 GTO and 05 CTS-V T56?

Ok, this has probably been aswered 100 times, so sorry for the newb question:

I have a 04 GTO, the tranny is garbage, I scored a 05 CTS-V tranny for under a grand.... still has the guibo on it. That looks the same as my GTO tranny. But the bell housing is different, and the shifter is WAY different.

Is is possible to swap the tail housing, shifter, and bell housing and I'm good? Or is it a totally different casting/spline/tranny?

Thanks.

Internals are mostly the same, but tailhousing/shifter/mainshaft are different..

Since you have a GTO donor, this might be a very simple build for you. Otherwise, it's several hundred in parts alone. Hope your GTO parts aren't worn / broken.

I can't think of a scenario where a bellhousing and driveline was going to cost me less than swapping trans. parts I already had. Nor am I a fan of the divorced shifter setup.

Already have GTO with broken transmission. Car has classic GTO driveline vibrations....maybe mainshaft is good, maybe not. Have fully working CTS-V tranny. Dont want 2 broken trannys lol.
