If first gear is "useless" for you does that mean you are not going to use it? The Camaro Tr6060 is rated at 430lb/ft of torque.

A T56 is rated to 400ft lb and I have friends who make more than double that on a stock T56, so what's your point? Plus that "rating" is not with a T56 magnum mainshaft (the stock TR6060 mainshaft is the main weak point in the transmission).

Sounds like you got it all figured out. Carry on.

1st gear won't be "that" bad. It is only slightly steeper than the MN12 ratios. With the 3.50 gear and a tall tire it should leave pretty good IMO.

Although, I do agree for some, it may not be worthwhile, but I got this TR6060 cheap, and decided to do the swap. Others may not find them for the price I got mine. It makes sense for me.

No worries. I am just playing a bit of a Devil's Advocate, but I always love it when people build oddball combinations. I am very curious to see how it works out for you. Cheers.

You can't compare GM's "warranty" rating to an aftermarket rating. Just like the TKO600, the T56 Magnum is not offered as a Factory GM transmission, so their ratings are apples-to-oranges to what GM rates a transmission package. (Vehicle type, weight, engine, drivetrain, etc..)

The gear ratio of the unit is the biggest draw back of the whole project. It would be great for a Silverado application though!

I too assumed a turbo would be better off with an MN6 gearset.

The ZL1 Camaro looks to be getting exactly that, and some (most?) C6s get it, so the OP could build later from a donor. I hate to think of the cost otherwise.

I don't see why it's so bad with my setup?

You need more load on the engine and closer ratios for the turbo to work best. No one is saying it won't work, it's just not ideal by any means. Using an ratio of around 3.08 would be better for you with that first gear ratio unless the car is super heavy.

I personally don't think its a bad setup at all. I run an MN12 trans in my C5 and with 3.90 gears and 26" tall ET streets cut 1.4 60fts. I just switched out to a 4.10 to see how it runs with even more gear.

Does it have a turbo on it?

No it doesn't. I just realized his car is turboed. In that case I agree that the car will need a higher rear gear to load the engine with the Camaro trans.

In N/A form, a 3.01 gear isn't bad at all with a 3.50 ratio rear end or in a truck with taller tires and a 3.73 or 4.10 rear end gear.

Ordered the SSR tailhousing, 31 spline yoke, and shifter lever. This is the yoke I bought, hopefully it's the right OD: http://www.northerndrivetrain.com/pr...3-3-5431X.html

Should have everything put together in the next 2 weeks.

Good deal.. You'll need a new driveshaft with that long yoke, but I hope you knew that you would need a new one anyway...

Yupp... I don't have the rear in (or the tranny obviously) so I can't measure yet what length DS I'll need.
