Default T56 to handle 1000rwhp?

Do any of you know how much that would cost? I want to keep it manual because I love driving manual... It's to fun!!! Also what clutch? Want it to be reliable as well. Thanks for input ahead of time. I don't know much about transmissions, I'm learning as I go.

As the other members have said above, the T56 Magnum is the only way to go to handle 1000rwhp. They aren't cheap but they do a fantastic job handling the power. The price of the trans will vary depending on what kindof chassis you are putting the transmission in. For 98-02 and 04-06 GTOs we have bolt-in units. If you are interested shoot me a PM and let me know what kindof chassis you have and I will be happy to help you get a transmission spec'd out.

Yeah I agree, the Magnum is the way to go. You give up some strength in the shifting area but gain a bunch in the over ability to handle the torque produced from 1000 rwhp.

Hey quick ? for you tranny guys i just bought an ls1 t56 complete pull out and used a car lift and chain to pick the unit out of the truck well when the tranny tilted there was transmission fluid coming out of it (the tranny oil was not drained before removal from donor car) is that normal or should there not being any fluid?

the only clutch worth buying is a RPS if your going to street drive it with 1000hp

anyone know if the t56 and the Magnum use the same clutches ? spline count ?

i dont think they do I belive the innards of a t56 and a tr6060 are completly different the T56 magnum is basicly a t56 tranny and tail housing with tr6060 insides, you can have your stock t56 built with tr6060 insides probably cheeper than buying a t56 magnum outright

If you tilt the trans over fluid will come out of the shifter location and possibly out of the vent tube depending on how far you lean it over.

Yes the Magnum uses the same 26 spline on the input shaft. You don't have to change your clutch to go to a Magnum.

The internals are different along with the case. The T56 Magnum/TR6060 main case is 2lbs heavier than the T56 f-body case. The mounting flanges at the ends of the case are thicker along with bigger bearings to support more load. Also the mid plate on the front of the trans is thicker with more reinforcement ribbing.

Putting TR6060 internals in a T56 case is pointless and isn't going to be that much, if any cheaper. If you buy a bolt-in T56 Magnum for your F-body and sell your T56 on the open market you will end up having nearly the same money in the Magnum as you would have had in a built T56 with a 30 spline shaft upgrade. Hope that helps clear some of that up.

No problem.

The top vendors here are modifying F-body tail housings and shifter mechanism to replace the T56 Magnum tail housings but using the stronger T56 Magnum/TR6060 main case and mid plate along with the larger bearings.

Our Level 5 is a bolt-in to an LS1 F-Body (we also have a version for 04-06 GTO) and we warranty it for a year at ANY Power Level - 1000rwhp and up!

Best of luck.
