Default Poly trans mount question

I'm putting a new poly trans mount on and with the crossmember tight and the trans loose there's a gap between them (about 1/8"). Would it be ok to shim between the trans and mount to get it to touch the crossmember?

Most mounts come with a spacer in the kit.

This kit was sealed and it didn't come with any kind of spacer. Luckily I have some big washers the exact same size as what's on the stock mout so I just used 3 of those and it puts a little pressure against it. How much interference should I have with it? I have solid motor mounts and the trans doesn't move so I don't know how high I should shim it.

Energy Suspension is releasing a transmission mount specifically for the 4th gen cars. It was featured at SEMA this year.

Energy Suspension isn't the only poly mount. Others don't come with the shim.

OP, are you running poly engine mounts? Is the exhaust bracket holding the trans. up? You need to loosen those (or whatever is holding the trans. up) before tightening the trans. mount.

Even an F-body with that double-mounted style rubber crossmember mount originally (like the E.S. one in the link a few pictures down) doensn't hold the trans. tail up rigidly like that.

I'm running solid motor mounts, and it does hold the trans up. I've got a jack under it right now but the trans doesn't move more than 1/4" up or down
