Default 1-2 Shift fork pads

Hey guys, I have been a member of the forum for a while and learned tons of info and I finally ran into a question that I couldn't find. I have a 02 ss and about 3 months ago I left a stop sign pretty hard and I went to hit second gear and when i dumped the clutch its almost like it popped out of gear and it made a god awful grinding sound. I stopped and I tried putting it in second and as soon as i started letting out the clutch it made the same grinding noise. So I was gonna send it off and get a stage 3 done but then I bought a house so that dream ending. So i decided to pull it apart today and to my surprise there was not one broken gear and it already had the 3-4 steel shift fork. The only thing i noticed was that the 1-2 aluminum shift fork had 1 broken fork pad and it was ground down. Would that cause it not to go into second? It worked in every other gear and there was no shavings on the magnets. Thanks

Ok, thank you. I read a few post were the shift pads were broke but they weren't having the same issues I was having by not going into second. So I just wanted to double check before I ordered the parts and put it back together.

Ok thanks, my buddy is rebuilding mine as we speak, it's got the billet 1-2 & 3-4 shift keys, steel 3-4 shift fork, bronze 1-6 & reverse shift fork pads, new 1-6 syncro assemblies and carbon fiber syncros and blocking rings, all new bearings/races/seals and the bronze shift cup. It should be decentonce it's done.
