I believe the necessary parts can be swapped. It may not be financially viable though. Bellhousing, tailhousing and shift rails if I remember are the big parts.

It can be done yes. Like Josh said, financially is the big question. I've seen some vette T56's of varying condition go for anything from 1k-2k on ebay. Fbody T56s always seem to start at 2.5k, assuming it's in working order. I would price things out before spending any money, unless you get the vette t56 for a screaming deal.

Keep in mind labor costs of the conversion, unless you're doing it yourself.

The vet t56 is 1k. I can try to negotiate a better price. How mouth would a transmission shop charge for the conversion?

Can vary depending on location. I'd just get some quotes from 3-4 local places and go from there. Or find someone in your area on here that races at a level where they are always breaking them and swaps them out all the time.

You'd be in it probably for more than a normal full rebuild. The Corvette boxes are triple cone 1-2, double 3-4 and F body boxes are double 1-2 and single 3-4 so a custom mainshaft is required. Rockland makes one, and I bet it's not cheap. You'd also need to swap the tail housing, input shaft, front plate, and shift rail on the trans so it's coming 100% apart. There may be a couple odds and ends I'm forgetting, and this is all assuming your syncro hubs, blocker rings, fork pads, EVERYTHING is good to go and doesn't need to be replaced. I have a C6 trans I want to convert, but for now I just rebuilt my old F body box.

I have had this screen name on here since 2006, well before I bought and built the Monte SS. That is why it's in my sig pic below.

GTO shafts are hard to find, if you get to a point where you can't find one look for an SSR 32 spline shaft and have the tail housing bored for the bigger bushing and seal. You'll have to have your 1st gear machined as well for the 3-piece 1st gear lock setup. If you need help with any of that send me a pm and I'll refer you to who can help with the machine work.

I work in a machine shop so I have a few things available, I'm in no hurry with this so my goal is to find the GTO Mainshaft and build this FrankenTrans.

I did that on my Z06 because it helped, on an Fbody T56 you can run the stock setup and it's smooth as butter. Direct mounted shifter helps.
