Default TR6060 rebuild help

Of all the sites i have been on looking for help this one has the most intelligent conversations and great support from vendors. Hope i can get some questions answered.
So I went and installed a 5k mile used 2010 Camaro Tremec TR6060 in my 1994 V6 Mustang. After i get it all together you can imagine my disappointment when i find out 2nd gear syncro is shot. It grinds but goes into second with little effort. I did this swap for $1800 and that's the only reason i did this over a T56. But since I'm on a tight budget I cant simply send out the trans and get a stage I back and throw it in, this is something i will have to do myself. I'm looking at maybe $600-700 max i can spend with a realistic budget of $300.00

1st ?. I see D&D sells 2nd carbon rings for $99.00 i guess this would be my bare bones back up and running option. I hear of a German made ring that might be better quality??? Anyone want to let me in on the main shaft backlash/preload that works best. I promise to never tell bbitner@ptd.net

2nd ?. What other little things should be upgraded like Bronze fork pads, other syncro parts upgraded.

3rd ?. My trans is a late 09 model and from what i can tell has the defective output shaft. Is this a real concern to me?

My car
94 mustang
400rwhp 430tq
3600lbs
3.27 rear
street tires only
I have owned this car since 94 and have been to the 1/4 mile 4 times, i don't want to be afraid to take it to the track. Stock V6 T5 lasted 50k miles so im easy on transmissions.

You need to teardown and see what part(s) of 2nd are damaged and replace accordingly.

Keep searching here on preload.

Are you running the tripod yoke with solid axle or did you add an extendable driveline? If not save up for slip yoke conversion IMO.

The rings in the TR6060 are German. Both carbon & bronze. If it is clashing now, there may be a gear replacement change required as well.
The output shafts were not defective. They were on the low end of the spec for thickness. If you are getting into the box( my suggestion) you can add a caged needle bearing at the back. This will do more for the shaft than anything else. Going to the Viper fork pads( Vespel) is the only other upgrade I suggest you consider. These must be epoxied-in to get the real upgrade.
Nice car crafting!

BTW
TR606s are not built with preload. The heavier bearings will not take preload well. The endplay spec for the input & the cluster gear is .0005-.0035inch loose( one half to three and a half thousandths).

Because of the angle of my trans 4.5' i did not feel comfortable with a slip yoke driveshaft. I called The Drive Shaft Shop who i highly recommend to make the driveshaft you see here. I had them put the CV at the tras side then set up the rear at .7' down and the car is smooth as silk. Also was more cost effective then converting the 6060 to slip yoke.

What shifter do you have on your TR6060? It looks shorter than the Camaro shifter.
