Default How much was your A4 to M6 swap?

Hello!

I wanted to know how much an A4 to M6 swap would be.
(I was unsure if I should post this in Auto or Manual).

I some of you are pro and didn't have to pay for labor fees.

But I would just like to know a guesstimate on how much everyone has been paying

I'm thinking its time for a manual, but if its going to be extremely expensive, i might as well buy a manual car lol...

was that with a rebuilt t56 or a used one? also what kind of clutch did you get? seems like a bit much if you were just going to go with all STOCK hydraulics and STOCK clutch/ tranny? I'm in the air about the swap to so im curious

I got pretty lucky with the one I did. It was 6 years ago on a 94 Z28. Found a Borg warner T-56 in a 30K mile totaled Z28 in a scrap yard. Ordered a new clutch and flywheel and (keep this in mind) for an LT1 the new flywheel must match the old one on the ENGINE being used.. so balance the flywheel to the one that's on the engine in the car that it will be going to. (if you have an LT1 car.. didn't happen to look sorry.) The trans cost me 1000 for every part I needed, ended up ordering some misc bushings from GM due to dry-rot to the tune of about another $100. Also had headers put on and a new fresher engine installed at the time. The amazing shop I used did all of this for me for $1000. They missed plugging up 1 fuel injector wire.. and oops. .the bolt that holds the shifter stick down to the shifter base.. lmao. They took care of that after the first drive . Including the clutch, I had 2600 in it + my new engine that my dad had sitting in his garage for a couple of years and Hooker LT headers *shrug*. A decent shop won't charge you a ton for the swap.. to R&R a trans you're looking ~300 + whatever they charge you for running the appropriate hydraulic lines and installing (required: drilling/cutting) the new pedal assembly. It's CHEAPER to sell your car and buy an M6. If you love the **** out of your car.. do the swap and don't look back.

Yeah I'm definitely in the air about it as well.

I guess going used may be the best bet... :/

$3500. But I bought a built tranny and lots of new GM parts. I also went with brand new hydraulics and an aftermarket clutch and shifter. Did all the work myself.

You have to keep in mind though that these are all built unit prices. A complete swap kit on here can be had for around 1600 add around 500 for a stock clutch and hydraulic kit and maybe a hundred bucks for misc crap. Sell off you auto stuff an you would be right around 2k not too bad imo but you would have an all stock setup opposed to a build one that costs close to 4

This^^ things get very expensive when you start going aftermarket and building up the tranny

I think that I may go this route also... Used like said above can be had for a round 1600 for a good working t56 swap kit it will be stock but I just have a bolt on car and never really hit the track. I'll probably use a new oem clutch with new hydraulics and just find a good used kit. Plus I have a billet stall in my car so hopefully I can sell that off with the tranny to recoup some costs
