Default Shifter rubbing center console.

2000 T/A WS6, M6 with a pro 5.0 short shifter. Stock everything else.

The problem im having is reverse has always been really close to the console, but recently after a slave cylinder replacement it now rubs and tries to pop the cneter console out of position when im going for reverse, its getting quite annoying. I havnt owned the car long, but it came with the short shifter already on it.

I tried to do a search on this thinking it was a common problem, but im just not finding anything.

It sounds like the transmission is not perfectly aligned to where it needs to be. Maybe a dumb question, but are you sure your center console isn't pushed too far one direction? I did that once and couldn't figure out why my shifter wasn't ligning up correctly.

In these pictures its in 4th, as you can see from the top view it looks fine, but from the low view you can see the stick intself is way to the side.

BTW, the whole rubbing thing has actually destroyed the boot frame on the right side, so now it doesnt even sit right, but i dont want to replace it if its just going to do the same thing.

It would be nice to see a picture with the boot lifted up. Maybe your short stick is installed on the wrong side of the shifter or is the wrong type?

Boot up would help.

And do you mean that he installed it 180* the wrong way? Would it even bolt up?

Yea... thats my problem! Its so close that it's actually putting enough pressure on the console to almost pop it completely out of place. I've heard about some kind of spacer i might need? I cant find any info on that though...

The stick looks to be on correctly. I'm wondering if its the correct shifter for the car. (Its obvious someone did a hack-job on the shifter. You shouldn't be able to see the shifter through the boot. They cut it up so that air and debris can migrate from the road underneath the car in to the console.)

My Hurst Billet Plus is kicked over to the left, which brings the stick away from the console.

Does anyone recognize the shifter here?

I found out that the Hurst center piece in the shifter itself was bent on some, but mine was not, so I took it out and bent it. I also added a spacer to bring the shifter stick away to the left more, and still had to trim the inner console to stop it from hitting
