Default output shaft seal

Hey guys I'm trying to replace the output shaft seal on my 1995 ta t56. I got a seal from advance auto that was too big and didn't fit. Ran the #s on the old seal and got that same seal and now I can't get it to go in. It's part #710441 from carquest. I searched on here and found a thread on here that national part # 710426 was the right part. I got that and it went in properly. Now I can't get the driveshaft in. I know that the one I pit in had a slightly smaller inside diameter than the one that was in. Could it just be too small? Any idea why the other seal was in it? It's not listed for a t56. I just need to get it together I've gotta work tomorrow!

Well finally got the driveshaft in. I used the seal 710426 and cut a lot of the boot off. Driveshaft was getting caught on the boot and for whatever reason couldn't get past it.

hmm, let me know how that worked out for you. I have a leaky one, and every time i replace it (twice) i went through a hassle of finding the right one that actually fits... but it still seeps out around the driveshaft (at the boot)... drives me crazy!

I'm taking it down to get painted tomorrow so I'll check it when I drop it off and see if anything is leaking yet.

If you need a new one I suggest ordering one from Tick.

They're like $9 and the exact same part that the dealership has them for $54.

I use a seal without a boot and have never ever had an issue with them. It's a red coated steel cased seal from National.
