My question is why are you breaking them?

Keep in mind...that whatever force is breaking them will now be transferred to the extension housing with a poly mount. Guess what will break next?

They definitely hold the shifter in place a whole lot better. Most people feel the vibes on day 1 and take them out, but you gotta give it time. Trust me.

Too many people install the poly mount, decide they hate it, uninstall it, then come on here and bash it.

The nitrous launches on m/t dr's broke it.

And it's far from a certainty that the tailshaft housing would break, certainly not with any of the wopping high 1.6 or 1.7 60ft launches I rarely make.

No...it's poly urethane and it is basically a solid mount. The vibrations it transfers would make a cheap ***** smile.

Well, I had it for a year before I took it off. I think I gave it more than a fair chance. I'm not bashing it, I just just doesn't have any place on my street car!

I have energy suspension trans mount, I had bad vibrations right away and it was just bad motor mounts replaced those with prothane and the vibration almost completely gone, also I didn't use plate and I grinded down the 2 bumps on trans mount first, snugger fit less vibrations, oh and weird thing I had a decent oil before I changed both and now it stopped leaking haha

I also think anything you can do to get that torque arm off the trans is a HUGE plus...but that's an altogether different discussion...

Why would it be better to have the torque arm off the trans?

I would like to see that torque away from the transmission housing and transferred to the body instead.

When I installed the Kooks 1 7/8 tubes on my F body, I installed poly motor mounts. It was felt that Kooks tucks their tubes close enough that you should use poly motor mounts to keep them from touching the body when torqued. When I see how close they were, I agreed. Fantastic fit and ground clearance. While I was at it, I also changed to a poly trans mount. When I was done, the vibration inside the car was very noticeable. In fact, it was unpleasant. Enough so that I considered going back to normal motor mounts and putting up with some exhaust clunks. Then I read here where poly trans mounts were a bad idea because they could break the trans extension housing. So I did some searching and found a brand new GM trans mount on Amazon of all places for $47!!! Part # 22174970. It may fit both AT and MT...but I'm not sure. Regardless, it showed up and was a true GM mount. I stuck it in the car and I was totally blown away. The car drove like a brand new vehicle!!! ALL the vibration was GONE! If someone had told me that a simple trans mount would make such a difference, I would have called BS...but it is the absolute truth. I think you can find other testaments here as well.

Do NOT use a poly trans mount!
You sir are awesome - thanks for the tip about the Amazon part number for that transmission mount!!
