Should I try Synchromesh
When I did my clutch (Monster stage 2) over the winter I filled the tranny with a basic dex III from Napa. The tranny does not shift to smooth at all, and when I semi get on the gas and shift, it will sometimes grind. The car has a Tick MC in it, along with a speed bleeder.... I am wondering if its worth the $45 to try the GM Synchromesh, or is there a cheaper better alternative?

i' use gm syncromesh on a new build. don't know if i can say their name on here because they aren't a sponsor, but they build almost if not all the prostock trannys. had parts shot peened, cryo'ed and viperized with carbon fiber throughout and that was what was suggested to use and i have no problems. got 1k on trans now and changing it tomorow again to syncromesh. good stuff , not recomended for the paper rings, but good for carbon fiber

I use 50/50 mix:
Amsoil ATF Dex III synthetic
Amsoil MTF Synchromesh synthetic
Anti-venom mod (.082" thick)
MGW shifter
Buttah!

I'll be rebuilding my t-56 in the next few months with the gearbox stage 2 parts. The tranny has about 30k miles on it and I don't think it has even been apart. It is very notchy. I look forward to trying some new syncromesh fluids to see what works later on. I would love to have a smooth shifting tranny.

Update.
The trans had been apart. By someone that did NOT know what they were doing. Silicone everywhere inside. I had to replace:
Mainshaft
5/6 driven
5th (inc syncro assy)
6th (inc syncro assy)
Rev (inc syncro assy)
keys
pads
3/4 fork
a $50 washer that should never have to be replaced
Think that's about it.
I tried four fluids after the rebuild. All carbon blockers.
Stock III ATF: VERY notchy. Hard to get into first.
Dex VI ATF: A little less notchy but not where I wanted.
Syncomesh: Better still but it still didn't feel like a trans should. Notchy/no grinding.
Redline ATF: Best I have found so far. It's not 100% smooth but a drastic improvement over the other three.
