Default STOCK t56 ISSUES? REBUILD YAY OR NAY???

hey guys just got myself a 99 ss with t56 "obviously" and i feel 2nd grind going in...4th grinds going in at high rpms...clutch is fine no slipping...how hard is it to tear one of these down and rebuild i havent rebuilt one of these yet...anyone doing them?also if so what company to go with for the rebuild...NOTE....CAR IS GETTING A REAR MOUNT TURBO SETUP DONE SOON....THANKS ALL

If you plan on doing a turbo, I would go ahead and freshen up the unit with syncros, fork pads and snap rings. If you have the money, I would look at a 30 spline main shaft upgrade for a little piece of mind.

thanks man yea i was gona get a whole rebuild kit if anything i know they runn around the 350 range...

$350 isn't going to get you a whole rebuild kit. It will get you a basic rebuild kit though.

GMHTP did an article on this about like 5 or so years ago and with some digging around I found it again: http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...d/viewall.html

It's always worth rebuilding the trans to help freshen it up a bit and with something of that age, it's probably had it's fair share of abuse and would be a good thing. I'll be rebuilding mine in a few years, provided there are no issues and I don't break it before then lol.
