Default New Output Shaft Seal Leaking

I just put in a built T56 and the output shaft seal is already leaking. The seal was brand new from Tremec. The seal has a small visible gap between it and the slip yoke. Is this normal? It's almost like the ID of the seal is too large. Is there a seal out there with a smaller ID that will actually seal against the slip yoke?

Yeah the seal that comes on the Tremecs go bad real quick. Mine starting leaking too. Check out D&D performance for an upgraded seal. I think the part# is BB80... It has a steel body and is much better than what Tremec slapped in there... http://www.ddperformance.com/

I use a National seal and almost never ever have an issue. Your bushing in the tail housing might need to be replaced as well.

That seal has several sealing lips and an outer stone shield. The gap you see isin that outer stone shield . It should not contact the yoke.
