slave shim question

slave shim question im putting the clutch back in my car at the moment. its an act with a resurfaced flywheel so i measured for a shim and i came up with .500. this sounds quite large of a shim 2 me. and i cant seem 2 find one big enough.
basicly i was wondering if u guys think the gap is 2 big 4 a shim? and if not where can i get one that big.
