Default What would cause a master cylinder to not engage

What I mean is, why would the pedal rod not move?

I have mine installed in my Camaro and the slave isn't hooked up, no fluid, I'm just working on aligning the pedal and the clutch master rod so it's straight.

I got the rod in position with vice grips and pressed down the the pedal, the pedal did not move and the vice grips finally failed after I pressed hard enough.

Thoughts?

there's a valve at the end of the line, so if you unplug it you don't lose all of the fluid. if the line is not plugged in, its trying compress whatever is in there. don't force it or you can damage the seal.

My slave isn't hooked up the braided line is just dangling.

look at the end of the braided line. the gold fitting that slides into the slave cylinder has a valve built into the end. if you have someone take a screwdriver and push the little white center in, you'll be able to push the pedal down. if there's fluid inside though when you push it in it will pour out, and when the pedal comes back up it will suck in air.

Oh, gotcha. So the MC isn't broken, it's just not releasing any pressure because nothing in attached (or pushing on the valve)?
