Default Hydraulic release bearing fit to a TKO?

I hope somebody can help me.

The plate attached to the trans behind the main shaft is round with 4x bolts securing it to the trans body.

I just bought a GM hydraulic release bearing (its the first time I've ever used one) and it has a round backplate similar to the one described earlier but only has 2x bolts holes in it. I do not have any other fixings with the release bearing.

Does the release bearing fit over the top of the original backplate and with 2x of the bolts removed reattach via the 2x holes with longer bolts?

Or do I remove the backplate completely and fix the release bearing backplate with only 2x bolts via its backplate?

My release bearing is this one GM 24264180 and looks like this

It didn't come with any instructions. Can anybody please help me out?

Thanks in advance.

OK so I've had another look at it and think I must have been sent the wrong part.

It isn't big enough to slide of the main shaft sleeve and I don't believe it replaces the back plate and sleeve.

What transmission are you using? Or better asked, what is it from?

Thanks for the reply.

The trans is a Tremec Tko 600 GM 26 spline shaft.

From what vehicle? Slaves are different dependent on application.

Send/or post a shot of the face of the transmission (where the slave would mount). Are you using a Camaro bell-housing?

Ok I'll do that. Bellhousing is a Repro 621.

Back in a bit with some pic.

Thanks again.

I think you are in left field here. The tko 600 is designed for a mechanical clutch. If you want hydraulic you need a retro kit. An oem t56 bearing will not be a direct bolt on.

I have a keislers kit and it had an adapter that replaces the bearing retainer and the bearing bolts to it

Thanks for the reply.

I feared that was the case. Annoyingly though it was a suggested part when I bought the trans and actually came packaged within the trans. Strange that after all that it doesn't fit.

Google " keisler hydraulic bearing" in the images. You will see what you need and a picture of it on the tko.

That is a typical TKO600 face but it was never designed to work with the T-56 type slave cylinder. The 600 was setup to work with a fork driven bearing. The 600 upgrade for the 05-10 Mustang GT has a face that will accept a hydraulic bearing though, and that is why I asked for pics. I just wanted to make sure you had what I thought you had. Give these guys a call:

I looked at the Keisler kit and whilst it looks great it is well outside of my budget.

Unless there is something cheaper I'll have to look at a conventional fork and release bearing and that's if I can get it to work on my bellhousing

If anybody wants to help try and identify and source the right parts for a mechanical clutch that would be great.

I'm going to need:

Fork
Fork pivot
Release bearing

Clutch is a GM LS6 (12570806)

I wonder if you can buy the front cover/quill from the above mentioned Mustang TKO600 separately. You may want to give Wally at Promotion Performance a call. Even if he doesn't have it he may be able to send you in the right direction.

Ram and others make a slave cylinder to sleeve onto a GM throwout bearing retainer like on the front of your TKO.

Ram 78125(?), an F-body master cylinder & reservoir, Russell -3 AN to master cylinder adapter.
