transmission issues

transmission issues a week ago i installed a new gm clutch, fly wheel, throwout bearing, pressure plate. (the works). i now have a issue of when shifting gears she does not want to go smoothly. engaging 1st and reverse is much tigher on the stick then the other gears. also when the car is off it goes through the gears effortlessly. what are my possible problems or is it normal?
