Default Modifying B&M RipShifter

This is my first B&M shifter. All my mustangs and GTO I put in a MGW. That being said, the MGW had much more adjustment for shafts than this B&M does.

The B&M handle is integral to the shifter base, where the MGW handle "bolts on" to the base.

Has anyone disassembled a B&M, cut the shaft down and rethreaded the end? I started to remove the black "cap" that is on the shifter base, but that's where I stopped.

This all started with wanting to put a Hurst Pistol grip on in place of a delrin 2" ball to try something different but in 5th and Reverse I'm literally punching the radio lol.

Nope, it bends back and toward the drivers side.

The pistol grip is only threaded so deep, so it sits very "high". With that extra height and angle, it's terrible for 5th and Reverse positions.

It's interesting how they even made the shafts...it looks like they turned it down from a nominal shaft size then bent it at the right angle?? AFAIK, it's all one piece.

This is what it is:

I am trying to avoid taking the whole shifter out, disassembling it, cutting the shaft down and having it re threaded. At that point I will sell it for a MGW lol.

Apart from using a gas torch to heat & then bend the shaft you will have to do what you don't want, remove it!
Just sand & repaint after bending it to position that suits...

The washers for the bolts that bolt the shifter to the trans are offset. You can flip the washers so the shifter sits further back. Also I cut and re threaded mine.
