SFI bell housing guys get in here!
I need recommendations on the SFI bells available for the LS. I got my twin out today to diagnose a vibration and my bell housing is cracked. For a couple hundred bucks more it seems I can get a SFI unit so I'm game. Car puts down 800+WHP on both stages and I really like me feet . Iv read the installs on the QuickTime's and Mcleod's so I'm aware of grinding and possibly needing a 99+ rear cover. My question is does the Mcleod block plate protect more than the QuickTime? It seems the QuickTime more people have had success with installing but the block plate doesn't seem to cover the rear cover. I'd like input from both QuickTime and McLeod users. Thanks

I have had both. The ballistic plate on the mcleod covers the entire back of the engine which I liked. The bell housing locates the trans about a 1/4" further away from the back of the engine. This required an extended pilot bearing and shimming the slave cylinder. It is a heavy piece as well.
The Quick time bell housing that I now run is a direct bolt in and is lighter. The only fault in the one i have was that the ballistic plate didn't entirely cover the back of the engine. A friend of mine has a cnc plasma table so i had a plate made to completely cover the back of the engine.
Both require clearancing the oil pan on f-body style pans. I preffer the Quick time but the Mcleod is a nice piece as well

I understand your concern, I felt the same way when Mr Gasket bought them, but they are still being led by the same engineers that have been there and the higher ups are supposedly dedicated to keeping the quality and business practices up.
