Default faceplate t56?

I am building a turboed 408ci for my third gen firebird and had a lt1 t56 in it before I was looking in to swaping it to an ls style and building it and I was looking at faceplateing it but the car is an all around car not just drag racing I want to be able to do it all with the car such as autocross and and I was reading that you cant really downshift with a faceplate so I wanted to see what your guys opinions were and what other upgrades I could do

It all depends on what you can put up with really. Several members here with faceplated transmissions drive them on the street. I street drive mine all the time and love it. They can be clunky and loud, but they can be downshifted no problem if you drive them right.

Will it be ok with hard down shifts like going in to a turn ?
The car is a street car but no longer the daily so im finally getting the chance to go all out with it so street manners are not a big concern just want the car to be able to do a little bit of everything and be able to hold its own

I've dd mine since about 07. Down shifting is a breeze you just have to rev match. Here's a cheesy vid I made for some other's that asked about it.
