Has anybody ever retapped the shift rail guide bolts?

Has anybody ever retapped the shift rail guide bolts? I've got to take my t56 apart to deal with the whining 5/6 problem. Last time I had it apart one of the shift rail guide bolts was a little tough to get in straight. Im afraid that messing with it anymore will require retapping it. Has anyone had this problem? Was it difficult to get it to sit properly?
