Shimming T56 Release Bearing....Required?
I am preparing to install a T56 Magnum behind an LS3. I thought I was clear on shimming the release bearing until I saw the following comment in this article. I thought all release bearings were "bolt in" but still required shimming nonetheless? What am I missing here? Yeah that's what I had read before. But the article leads you to believe if you use the particular bearing mentioned in the article, it is bolt and go, implying no measurement is needed:
"A simple, bolt-in hydraulic throwout bearing is a nice change of pace from the adjustable units I’ve installed in the past, as this unit rids the installer of second guessing any measurements and shim installation."

I located the Chevrolet Performance instructions and apparently no shimming is required if using all GM parts. Only if aftermarket TOB, PP, etc are used is shimming needed.
