Default first post..tranny problems :(

Well this my first post here, unfortunately its not a fun post. I'm a first time forthgen camaro owner. 2000 camaro ls1 t56 car. Yesterday I was driving from first to 2nd I heard a loud clankin noise then the noise settled down but could not get my car to move, every gear like is neutral. Any suggestions? I was thinking clutch but not sure.

Can you turn the engine off and put it in gear? Or it just wont go in gear running?

You can move the shifter in gears but it acts like its in neutral no matter what gear, that's with the engine turned on or off and with out even pushing clutch pedal in.

I would double check the rear end. I blew mine last summer and sore up and down it was the tranny. From where it broke at the track between getting it off the track and loading it on trailer then getting into the garage we pushed it probably 100 yards both forward and backwards and it never once made a noise or bound up at all. It was after I had the tranny out and it checked out fine that I decide to check the rear. The car made no noise in forward or reverse.
