Default T56...how much power?!

About to do a t56 swap since my 60 went out ... If I get a nice clutch, how much power should it hold? I'm about to be cam/heads/intake on a 100 shot.

Thanks!

There is really no specific answer in how much they hold, sometimes they go out on stock cars, while other push them pretty far. Its all in the shifting. I remember a time
Back someone here posting about them pushing the stock clutch over 400RWHP.

I have 243's and an f13 cam in mine and its stock with carbon blockers and iron 3-4 fork. Never an issue same with my buddies only he has a built lq9. They can take a lot of abuse as long as your not an idiot, flat foot shifting and missing gears will eventually kill it. I have pushed my stock clutch over 400whp now and its doesnt like it lol new rts is going in soon

sorry this is probably a dumb question but can you elaborate on what you mean it's all in the shifting?

it will take heads/cam type power well if you don't speed shift or power shift it , the stock 10 bolt behind a cam/heads/6 speed combo likely wont last long if you hook it up though...

meaning not to speed shift especially when not lifting the gas.

Can they be shifted aggressively behind a motor making power, yes.

Having a good clutch system with perfect working hydraulics is a critical component also that if F'ed up will wear any transmission .

Thanks!

Can you enlighten us as to what a "nice" clutch is ?

T56's can and do hold plenty of power.

Agreed^ a good quality clutch will make that T-56 last longer.

I had a stock T-56 with a 408 stroker and 200 shot on it. Made over 750 ft lbs at the wheels and it lived ok.

4L80 FTW. Unless, you feel the need to row gears.
