Hello,

Im in the process (or maybe i should say was) of doing the viper main shaft conversion in my t56. I ordered everything from tick performance, and then had my tail housing work done. The problem is, after 2 weeks of not hearing from tick, i put in a ticket, and was told they no longer sell (or i guess tremec doesnt make) the viper shaft anymore (despite the site saying they were in stock).

So now i need to find a mainshaft, does anyone know of any places to buy it from? The only other place that had them, had shown them as out of stock, and since the machine work has all already been done, I really need to find one.

They also said they were out, and that they believe tremec has stopped production on them. Does anyone know if the gforce hardened mainshaft for the ls1 t56 is the same dimensions as stock, or as the viper (basically, will it work in my already viper machined tail housing).

Check Cobra Transmission, I got an input shaft from them when nobody had them, looks like they have the 30 spline in stock

Tremec has put T56 parts on the back burner along with most of the other units they use to produce. This has lead to huge shortages of parts from them and the necessity for other companies to begin development and creation of after market parts to fill the gaps much like has been done with the Muncie, Super T10 and T5 model units over the years.

D&d, astro, Rockland gear, tick are all out of them. A few rebuilders have them but are keeping them for their customers who come in for rebuilds.

For the most part, this is accurate on not only the Viper output shaft but a large variety of other items as well.

So, what are the chances of getting a stock main shaft and the 5th/6th driven gear? I just pulled my T56 apart last night and found some serious wear on both of those parts. I was going to upgrade to the viper shaft, but it seems that may not be too practical now.
