Default tick performance master cylinder vs stock??? Do I really need the tick one?

I think i'm going to replace my master cylinder to try and fix my clutch issues.. I have read a few forum members suggesting to use the tick master cylinder.

I have no intentions of upping the HP/TQ on my '00 z28 so are you sure the tick master cylinder is not complete overkill?

In the event the master cylinder does not solve my clutch issues:
  • Do you suggest LS6 or LS7 clutch package? I read something about the LS6 one being lighter. Again, I'm not going to up the HP/TQ so the LS6 one should be sufficient?
  • What slave should I get?
  • Is the tick performance master cylinder compatible with both the LS6/LS7 clutches?

Thanks

Do a search on what I went thru after installing a Brand new LS7 clutch, New oem Master, Tick speed bleeder. My new oem MC went bad just mainly from just bleeding it alot, and it was still on jack stands. I'm sure some have bought replacement oem mc's and they work. Mine didn't, and it wasn't a cheap one. It was from Carquest. Yea, the Tick is a bit pricey, but it works and the quality is great. Save up and bite the bullit.

As far as clutches, well that's alot of searching and it all deals with horse power. I have no complaints with my LS7. If I was going to be modding alot more than what I had done, then I would go with Monster from SNL Performance. They monitor all the threads here, and they always Help out with the ones that have problems, even if they didn't buy a Monster clutch. So they back their product. Everything I read, is most buy Monster clutches.

Buy the Tick well worth it! I bought mine on a GP several years ago still working great and banging high rpm shifts!

I'm currently in the process of installing a new GM slave cylinder and a Tick Bleeder (ordered both from Tick) on my T56. The master i got is from Autozone unfortunately. Tick is def the way I would go if you have the funds. Thanks

I always used to cringe when powershifting with stock master, it would grind and lock me out half the time. But now everything shifts smoothly at any rpm

One of the best mods for the $$ you can get...

Don't waste your time with the stock master. If you want to shift into gear easely, buy the tick. What a difference it makes. You will wonder why didn't do it sooner.

Also in time you will ruin the synchronizers in your transmission buy shifting while the clutch is still slightly engaged.

Just picked up a 2000 Z with 75k mi, mostly stock, one owner. Typical clutch... First half is slop, 2nd half is pedal but it doesn't always return all the way up and it doesn't feel like its 100% disengaging.

My question is how HARD or how much "more" pedal effort does the Tick give with a stock clutch? Does the "adjustable" feature control effort at all?

Anyone able to install their 4 foot bleeder hose to the existing bleeder nipple, without pulling tranny in other words?

Thanks

I just dropped my tranny to install a new slave and bleeder. I don't believe you can though.

My friend bought a T/A with a Wilwood CMC for an Auto to manual swap. He hates it, it's junk, and he just bought a Tick CMC. He has one in his Camaro and can't wait to get it into his T/A. I have had one in my previous Camaro Z28 and my current Trans Am. Love it. Well worth it!

it takes 15 percent tick says , i installed it in mine 4 weeks ago and noticed it was more effort , but now its normal . Its not a big deal and you will not even notice. you will be too happy that you can bang gears better than ever .

and the 4 foot bleeder .i did mine when i did the clutch but , you can drill a hole with a hole saw inside the car and get to the bleeder that way . I mean the carpet covers it up when your done and you could pop rivet a plate and then seal it up and never know .

But that's the only way i know if the trans is still in .

Get the speed bleeder from tick too! Takes less than 5 minutes to bleed the clutch even with one person!

Dam, its been 13yrs since I owned my last F body. I thought the throwout had a nipple with a bleeder on it stubbed out of the bellhousing?!

Oh well!

Once i get my shop back together after a move, i will just pull it and put in a new clutch and throwout.

The Monster stage 3 with Tick Master and speed bleeder was probably the best mod I've done so far. It's nice knowing that setup can handle my current HP/TQ level, and work just fine all the way up to 750+ HP/TQ.

The Tick Bleeder def helps. I can shift now thanks to the new GM Slave/Tick bleeder.
