Clutch suggestions
Hey everyone, im thinking about replacing my clutch in the near future. My clutch doesnt disengage properly. My car is a 99 formula m6, with long tube header, full exhaust, ls6 intake. Im gonna add a cam eventually. What are some.l good clutches that you would suggest.

Here's my post, read it. I wouldn't buy anything but a monster. And the level 2 is the same price as a level 3 so better to just get the level 3

I will probably go with a Monster level 2. I had the level three in a previous car. Yes it will take an un godly amount of abuse, but its not what I would call the most dd friendly. You cant slip it at all or it starts to squeal, extremely heavy pedal,

I've used the McLeod 75223 kit all summer (single disc kit, billet steel flywheel), Billy M said it holds 550hp/tq (at the crank). It stood up to multiple street races, the dragstip dumping it at 6000rpm (1.6-1.7 60 fts on drag radials). Pedal feel didn't change. Hasn't slipped, or had any problems. Im swapping out to a McLeod RST this winter to prepare for nitrous, otherwise I would keep running it. You won't find much information on this kit, but its been around forever, and you certainly will be hard pressed to find anything bad about it.

The LT1-S is about 350.00$ more than our Level 2 single disk units, but with that cost you will get better driveablity, higher holding capacity, and far more life out of it as apposed to any single disk.

I recommend the Level 2 and the PB since it comes with the slave cylinder in which you should replace.
And now watch someone named Steve shoot me a nasty email LOL.

I'm on the Monster bandwagon as well. Had a LS7 before and my car just chewed it up. As far as any other aftermarket ones, I'm too scared off by the horror stories about the bigger brands to risk it. I did a write-up on Tick's site if you want to go look at it, although it's not really very detailed. It's probably not worth reading, but since I brought it up (LOL) http://www.tickperformance.com/takin...lutch-install/

I have a level 2 in my bolt ons camaro, works great for driving, I don't run it as hard or drive it as much as my vette. But it's been fine, just think the 5500 rpm launches killed the level 3 in my vette.

okay so almost everyone on camaro zone is telling me to get an ls7 clutch because its better for daily driving, I do drive my car a lot, probably over 1000 miles a month. and according to them with my current power id just be wasting the monsters potential. But I am planing on getting a cam and heads eventually. But only after im done with rebuilding the suspension and all the other little things that will probably fall apart on me. So what i was thinking that maybe i should get an ls7 clutch for now since it will probably take me a year or more to start adding power. and then eventually go aftermarket? and how much power will i be looking at with heads and a cam?

I have had or driven cars with some of the clutches listed in this thread. Had a mcleod single disk clutch a few years back it drove very well almost like stock however i had to run an aftermarket master cylinder for it to work. I currently have a mcleod rst dual disk clutch but that may be out of your budget. As for the monster clutches my friends gto has a stage 3 and honestly it is a tough clutch but i personally wouldn't want it for a daily driver, it has a really stiff pedal and is like an on/off switch meaning you can't slip it much. I would probably go with a stage 2 for more of a daily driver car. As for your question about heads and cam the power is gonna depend on how agressive of a package you are gonna get, either way though you should be making well over 400rwhp as most h/c cars usually make around 430-450 rwhp or so. I wouldn't waste my time on a ls7 clutch but that's just my opinion
