Default what clutch for 700 plus rwhp

what clutch should I go with to hold over 700 rwhp, I am not at that level yet but my current clutch took a dump yesterday after only 918 miles and about 25 track passes mostly n/a and I want to make sure I have something that will hold I plan to dump a 200-250 shot on my motor next year, I would prefer not to have to go with a $1200 plus twin disc setup

than you will need to continue to buy single disc clutches and replace them frequently.

if you make that kind of power you need a double or even a triple disc clutch

I have the McLeod Street Twin, should have done it 3-4 single disc clutches ago. You will pay less overall doing it now

My engine will have that kind of power and I was wondering what clutch I should use so I asked "Bangin' Bob" Hanlon (Hanlon Motorsports). He helped me with some other drivetrain issues on my build. Bob recommended the Ram dual disc race clutch with stands as opposed to strapped discs and he said the 300 series organic discs would be smooth on the street and hold the power but 900 series discs if I would be hot lapping it at the track.

Monster stage 3 is good for 700 rwhp and 700 rwtq, but if you're looking to push closer to 800, I'd look into the Monster stage 4.

The Race Series from Monster in Level 1 trim holds 850 HP & TQ. I have only driven their Street Series stage II clutches, so I have no idea how 'streetable' the race series really is. Alternatives that I would consider would be a RAM and/or McLeod twin disk setup, but be prepared to un-*** some cash.

a monster 3 wont hold it that's what I currently have and the first pass on a 150 shot it was slipping bad and I should only be around the 650 mark on that shot, made several more na passes and it held fine I don't think its a clutch problem it just wont hold the power

If you are going to be street driving it at all I would recommend the LT1-SC rated to 1000/1000RW and drives close to stock. The benefits of spend a little extra goes along way, better drivablitiy, longer life and better holding power. Give us a call if you want to go over details.

How many miles do you have on that unit? If you are pushing 650 on spray the torque spike that is generated by nitrous, can push past the limits of any unit when you are close to its maximum hold capacity.

I would recommend the McLeod RXT with a steel billet flywheel. Its a twin disc clutch that has a 1000hp rating, lighter than stock pedal feel, and great street manners. This clutch setup will take the beating you will give it at the track and then drive you to work on Monday morning without any trouble. We have a great promotion on these right now and would love to be a parts resource for you. I will put some links below.

Well I'm trying to decide between an RST/RXT with one being organic and the other ceramic I wasn't sure if the rxt would hold up as good as the rst for street daily driving

I have the RXT, it is fine for the street. You need to consider the weight of the car and what tire you are running also.

If you plan to run slicks and launch the car often.... get the RXT. Drives killer

Does it last a lot of street miles? Last thing I'd want is to get it and it go out 2 month later. I know people who get a ton of miles (30k+ with easy street driving) on the rst

So, will the RXT last as long as the RST in terms of street miles, or would the RST outlive a RXT?

Not sure why u think the rxt won't last, have you heard bad things? I'm sure there are instances where the clutch is not properly installed and or beatin hard, and worn out prematurely but ,
Break in is critical as any clutch, and driving habits of course,

Not sure who told you the rst would last longer either? Maybe typically ppl get more miles out of a rst because they buy the rst for daily cars, where th e rxt is typically purchased to be abused-resulting in a lower life span.

Now if you drove both normal for testing purposes, who knows which would last longer since I don't think ppl buy them for a long lasting clutch, they buy it to beat it up,,

As far as best of both worlds,(daily use and racing)___ well that's why they designed the rxt, as stated above, race at the track and drive to work Monday,

Its funny if anyone thinks a rst will take more abuse than a rxt,,,(you beat up that rst like you would a rxt and tell me it lasts longer under the same conditions) cuz it wont
