T56 reverse galled on shaft
I have a t56 in my 1998 z28 camaro and I currently have it tore down to see what is going on with it. My findings were the main shaft was galled pretty good. I only drive 1-2 miles on it when it started making noise. The inside of my reverse gear is galled inside of the gear, along with the shaft, washer before gear, and snap ring is bent. I was wondering can I use emry to polish the shaft and replace the gear as well as new bearing and possibly synchronizer it did substain some damage. I will try to upload some pics.

Pay attention to the 5-6 cluster gear. After reading this: https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...vibration.html
Assuming muliple journals need repair, the repairs may not be reasonable in cost.
Those I have seen with your described issue were more than an Emory cloth repair.

Thats going to need more than emory cloth to clean up. You're going to need to spin it on a lathe and use something a little strong to knock off the built up metal. Chances are, you're going to need a new reverse gear, synchronizer and ring.

Kinda what I figured. And thanks for the info on 5/6th drive gear. Mine does that. Should I replace main shaft, reverse gear and syncronizer and ring?
