Hey guys, im doing a build for my friend on his t56. I noticed that the 5-6 gear came off by hand. This is my first time running into this. Normally they are a nuisance to get off, but this one just slid right off. There is no damage to the splines on the gear or on the mainshaft.

I did some research and it was recommended to replace the mainshaft and the gear to correct the issue before it damages the splines. Has anyone ever attempted another fix to this with replacing them? I just wanted to make sure I covered all bases before telling him to order the extra $500+ of parts. Thanks guys!

yep the mainshaft can be repaired TDP offers a resizing service for like 100 bucks i believe. A new mainshaft will just do the same thing, they are machined a hair to small from the factory in most cases and develop that after the begin to wear

The repaired TDP shaft will be .001"-.002" larger than the problematic new shafts. Go that route, cheaper too.
