Default Input and counter shaft bearing race removal?

I am in the middle of a t56 rebuild and I am wondering how I am going to get my input shaft and counter shaft bearing races out after I measure the play.

I have searched around on the forums and some people say the races should be lose enough to pull out by hand, while others say they are tight.

Mine are so tight that I cannont even press them in by hand. My front plate is brand new if that makes any difference. I know I can probably heat it up to get the races in but I have no idea how they will be comming back out.

Thanks.

Use a propane/map torch and heat around the bearing on the case, a lot of times they will open up to fall out. If that doesn't work they make tools to help.

You should be able to just twist them out of the bore by hand.

Okay thanks. I'm planning on putting the races in the freezer and heating the front plate wwith a torch. Hopefully they will stay loose enough to come back out after I measure endplay
