Default Friends T56 gave up the ghost....

This happened the other night and I'm wondering if anyone knows what gears he needs to order? A part number would be great too. Thanks. It's the first two gears at the front of the transmission

Going to atleast need a new input shaft which is the one of the left and a new countershaft (right). But I wouldnt order anything until you tear the trans apart as theres surely more damage

Yes, tear the whole thing apart first. Definitely an input shaft and cluster gears, probably more.

You can't just change the individual gears?

The input shaft is 4th gear which is what you see on the left side. The right side is the cluster gear which is one solid shaft so that whole unit must be replaced. The point is though that if those 2 front parts are messed up what does 1,2,3,5,6 look like?

We looked down in it. Those were the only bad ones. So next question best place to get the parts at a reasonable price?

uhhh...reasonable prices for t56 parts....I believe that is just a dream ATM

I still strongly recommend you pull it all apart, check for stress cracks and other hidden issues, you can't see much by just looking at the gears stacked in the case. Trust me on that one. You might have bad bearing surfaces on the main shaft or a worn idler gear, you have to pull it apart to get the cluster shaft out anyways.

I've posted this in a few places but here is roughly what I paid per part:
1st: $150
2nd: $180<-Amp has these
3rd: $100 <-got from a member
4th: $150 <-Had to go aftermarket
Main Shaft: $200
Bearings and level 2 rebuild kit was like $800 I think.

I also upgraded some stuff, but I wouldn't count that in the basic rebuild cost. Also if you pay labor expect another 700-1k.

May the odds be in your favor.

As a note, before pulling this apart 3rd would pop out occasionally, and 2nd grinded, but at a glance everything looked ok.

the guy who posted above you can help you out. But you're still going to need to tear it down. You still might need sliders, or gears depending on how the engagement dog teeth look. tear it down now to save time and money later.
