Default Clutch for 1000 hp turbo car?

My Mcleod twin isn't holding up to the power so what clutch will hold that power and still feel similar to the Mcleod? I don't want a really heavy clutch or a clutch that chatters its *** off if not driven a certain way. Is that too much to ask?

Car is a 408 ci S476 turbo. Made 842 rwhp and 866 rwtq on 14 psi so I need something for when I turn it up.

Thanks!

I would recommend the Monster LT1-R its rated for 1200WHP/TQ, however Its on the aggressive side. Give us a call and we can go over details.

I'm not quite ready to buy just yet, I just got done getting this thing together and running and my wife is going to kill me when I tell her we need another 2 grand to finish this build. lol

How is the drive ability on that clutch? I really like the way the Mcleod twin disk feels, I really wish it would hold the power because I really like it. I just don't want a clutch that chatters it's *** off unless you rev it to 3500 rpms.

Actually I have the RXT. Mcleod rates their clutches at the flywheel and I'm hitting 1100+ torque at flywheel so it's not holding.

Do you know how the drive ability is on that? That part is pretty important to me.

Define "not holding." Is the clutch actually slipping under power? What gear?

Perhaps you have other issues other than the clutch.

Yes the clutch slips under power. It only does it when yoyou roll into the throttle and the turbo builds boost slowly and then hits all of a sudden. The clutch has around 2000 miles on it and the shop called McLeod to discuss the issue and told them there was nothing that could be done other than replacing the clutch.

Check out RPS clutches. See what you think. They got some rated at 2000 hp and carbon fiber so light and smooth

RPS is super expensive though. I'd LOVE a carbon carbon of theirs but my monster lt1-s is doing great. Just wish it were lighter.

All of the LT1 clutches that monster sells have great pedal feel. Very light for the power they hold. Cannot speak to the aggressiveness of the higher rated disks though.

That's my issue, I don't want a chattery *** clutch. I had a Spec 5 once and hated it with a passion. I'll contact someone about the Monster stuff.

Funny thing though I went out today and the clutch held. It's right on the edge of holding and not holding.

i have the monster twin not sure with one ill check into it but its rated for 1000rwhp.

It drives like stock and shifts very smooth . only time it doesnt drive like a stock clutch is go up the ramp into the trailer and a slow speed and high angle then you can tell its higher grip

It uses a borg&beck style pressure plate so the pedal effort is like like stock. To be honest it feels and drives almost like a stock clutch. But any clutch with 1000hp capacity will not feel like a stocker

I loved the monster lt1-r its a badass clutch, held 1100rwhp fine and went 8.54@164 and 1.25 bumper dragging 60's. I don't street drive the car a lot but it drove great the times I would. very nice pedal feel.

Awesome thanks for the review! Did it have chatter on the street? That is the biggest concern. I can handle more pedal but not a lot of chatter.

I am actually looking at that very clutch.
