New Hinson Motorsports F-Body Short Throw Shifter - Now Available
#243
Does this shifter guide each gear in from 1-4? Looks so from the videos but can't tell.
So from 1-2, do you need to apply a little leftward pressure to keep it guided to two, or you can literally pull straight down?
Same question for 2-3, does it automatically guide it to third, or is there still a chance of missing and hitting first?
Lastly, why wouldn't is recenter from the right? I frequently am downshifting from 5th to 4th and that seems counter-productive over other shifters.

ok I read this entire thread and still couldn't find my answer.
Which version matches the stock hurst shifter for placement of the stub? straight or offset stub?
I want to still use my UMI angled stick if possible but need to know which version will get it back the same position.

Did a little review today, is this functioning normally? Mine doesn't center to the 3-4 gate from either direction. Go to 1:08 for where I go over it not centering.

Noone can tell me if how mine is operating in that video is normal or not?
I literally spent hours researching this last night, and noone mentions or talks about how this shifter behaves in the neutral positions.

Took it apart today, took out the bronze shifter isolator/cup bushing, and reinstalled my factory one which was in great shape. I installed the bronze as a "while I was in there" upgrade. Figured it may had been part of the problem, unfortunately, it wasn't.

Working with Hinson right now to fix the issue. They tested their current batch of bellevue washers, and they're measuring a little low on the tolerance scale. I'll quote what they said.
So I'm going to send it back, they will swap out the washers and send it back to me to test.
Chris,
Although I have not had this complaint before, I did re-evaluate the belleville springs we use to center the shifter to 3-4 gear.
What we have found; and I might say I have spent hours with the manufacturer of the belleville springs, is that the last production of springs were on the low end of the tolerance scale and thus would not create quite as much pressure as they would if they were on the high end as we have always recieved.
I have gone to my original supplier from 8 years ago and have flown in the washers we used to use, they will be here today. I will inspect and test them.
In the meantime I have asked for samples of the next thickest washer, which when on the low side would put me where the other one would have been if it were on the high side of the tolerance.

Did anyone else have difficulty with shifting into reverse? Mine feels almost impossible, its not like I'm a weak guy either, but I feel like I have to use my whole upper body to get it into reverse. Also does not return to center from the 5-6 gate, 1-2 gate does center..odd

I'm interested if I can get a version without the offset. Reason being I'm in Australia and I'm RHD so the offset will throw me way off. Also Amazon does not allow shipping to Australia so that rules that out too.
