Please help ID this pressure plate & clutch
I picked up a used T56 from a '97 camaro that had been converted to a push type throwout bearing. Someone put in this pressure plate and clutch and I'm having trouble identifying them. The clutch is pretty worn out so I need to order a replacement, seems like I should get the one that goes with the pressure plate.
The closest clutch I can find is the RAM 900 at summit. It isn't quite the same, though:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-920
That looks like an expensive clutch for an extreme application. This is a street car that will see some occasional autocross days and drag strip nights. Thinking I might be better off just ordering a clutch/plate kit.
The car has a GEN I 350 block. I just put on a RAM 1510 153 tooth 17lb flywheel that the clutch/plate will bolt onto:

This is the throwout bearing I'll be using, a Quarter Master 721100
Any advice? This is all going into my '79 Corvette with a Gen I 350 block:

Looks very similar to my Ram power grip HD with a 910 disk.
The fist post has a couple of carnage pics of my ram clutch. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...xt-clutch.html

That really is very close looking! I think I'll send my pics to RAM and see what they say. I noticed that they recommend their steel billet flywheel for that powergrip HD clutch, which is the flywheel I have.

Here is the link to that clutch, I bought this back in 2006 from the boys at Texas speed.

Here is a shot of the front of the pressure plate.

Oh right, I didn't mean that my pressure plate is a stock LT1, I just mean that it is an aftermarket unit that came off a car that had an LT1 engine. Maybe that doesn't matter and they are interchangeable. I'm still learning about aftermarket pressure plates.
There's no question that it isn't a stock LT1 pressure plate since it is a push type plate, not the oddball pull type.

McLeod does paint their stuff "red"...maybe it is a McLeod
small pics on internet.....but PP looks to be in good shape, no heat marks.
The ceramic puc type disc often chatters on engagement. They don't like to be slipped.
just measure the disc width (10 1/2"?) and count the splines (26?) and go buy a new disc matching that

I like the idea of locating a disc of the same diameter and spline count, but this one has what looks to be a unique contact pattern that it looks like I would want to try to match. I figured that pattern exists for a reason, vs a solid contact surface without the breaks.
Is that pattern what you mean that doesn't like to be slipped? Maybe a solid contact pattern would better suit my needs?

I ended up contacting RAM and this appears to be the kit:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ram-98761
Even if that's not the kit, it is the kit I ended up ordering. The entire kit is $320 but the clutch disc by itself is $280. I would have spent another $6 on the alignment tool. I figured for $34 more I might as well end up with a new pressure plate too.

yeah after looking at the "larger" pictures that old disc was shot and the FW & PP would have been worn also
Good you got a new kit & FW. You will need an alignment tool so get one as the kit notes it does not come with one. The PP in the RAM kit is a Valeo. They make many OEM clutches for GM and other brands
That kit has a "dual friction" disc. One side is organic, likely full face, and the other side is iron composite puc which holds more power. The puc side may cause some chatter, especially during break in, but may smooth out after. You may find adjusting your clutch release/engagement technique when driving will resolve any chatter after break-in, if you do have any.

Thanks for the tips. If it chatters when I first drive it, its nice to know that it might go away.
According to the summit listing, the kit does come with an alignment tool.
