Default Is My First Gear Shot?

Hi, everyone. Ive got an 04 gto t56 that was grinding into 1st. No idea how long it was grinding for as I bought it used. I tore it down and found that the inner friction was shot and I found wear on the 1st gear synchro teeth. Should I replace this gear? This is my first trans rebuild so im not exactly what sure what bad looks like. Thanks

Run it.

Bad is when the slider won't push teeth against gear teeth and mesh. Flatter surfaces are bad. Rounded like yours that maintain the uphill taper are passable.

Too bad the friction died in your 1st blocker set.

Thanks for the info! It definitely sucks that it went out i'm still trying to figure out how the PO managed to mess it up.
