Default Clutch pedal travel sensor for Gen 4 F-body

Has anyone tried installing a clutch pedal travel sensor on a gen 4? Stock we get the pedal switch, but looking to retrofit or fab a travel sensor. I think it would be great for logging at the track. Anyone tried it?

Thanks for any feedback. Tired to search the forums and no luck.

I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish.

We have 2 sensors for the clutch. Top sensor at pedal's resting position and bottom sensor at the floor.

So at the track when I'm logging a pass and looking all the data available, it would be great to have clutch pedal travel data similar to the TPS. So wondering if anyone has tried to install a position sensor on the clutch pedal that could read from 0-100% instead of just engaged and not engaged. With a twin disc and an adjustable master cylinder I think this data would help troubleshooting.

Surely there is a lever type sensor that has a 0-5 volt output that can be adapted. Look at what people are using for shock travel sensors.

Those looks expensive. Why can't you adapt a regular TPS? They are 0-5v rotary sensors.

Maybe a fuel level sender from whatever's cheap? Basically just a rheostat with harness anyways.

Andrew: I think the linear will be easier to mount, but yeah a little expensive.

imma_stocker: Interesting idea too. I'll do some research on that. Thanks.

Some Mercedes cars use a linear sensor for their DBW pedal sensor.

Or you could probably adapt a non linear type sensor, lots of cars these days with xenon headlights have suspension height sensors which could be adapted.
Or the simplest of getting some sort of reading, a pressure sensor on the hydraulic line. A 0-50bar sensor should cover almost any clutch type.

Although really...what are you trying to achieve or learn from it ?
