Question Clutch Chatter...when turning?

I only have around 300 miles on my Spec 3 and it has some chatter, but nothing that is too annoying.

I just notice that whenever I am doing slow speed turns (U-Turns, Turning In Parking Spaces) the chatter gets worse. Almost as if my rear end was hopping. I have to really rev the car (about 2500 rpm) to get it to not chatter when I turn.

Is this normal? Is it something other than the clutch?

TIA

To The Top...

Also, the chatter is only apparent while engaging the clutch. Once the clutch is fully engaged there is no noise no matter what speed or direction I go.

I have a different theory.

When you are turning your car while actuating the clutch, you put more load on it (more resistance from the front wheels being turned.)

I made the same observation with my Spec 3. Go higher with the rpms, like you already mentioned...

Default I think Youre Right

I think the "rolling resistance" theory is true.

No more chatter at all after a few 5k rpm clutch dumps.

guys, what exactly does clutch chatter sound like?

i have a sound only when real slowly taking off in 1st and 2nd that sounds like a marble slowly rattling around in a coffee can. it annoys the hell out of me not knowing what that noise is.

You'll know it if you got it. You will feel it as much as you can hear it, the car shudders as you take off.
