tranny or clutch problem

tranny or clutch problem when i am rolling backwards and put it into first to take off it makes a whinning type noise when i release the clutch to go forward. any ideas.

first things first have you been slipping the clutch a lot? check your clutch fluid and see if its cloudy, then if not start looking at your tranny. most whinings from that area are from the tranny, but a rear end whine could also be the culprit
