Default How many miles are on your stock clutch?

I bought a 2001 Trans Am 6 months ago. I didn't know how to drive a stick when I bought it and so the clutch has taken quite a beating from me. I've put about 13,000 miles on the car for a total of 90,000 miles. Is it possible that I've still got the stock clutch or is it likely that it's been replaced? It's real strong, doesn't slip at all. The only problem is that sometimes when I'm getting on it the clutch pedal sticks to the floor when I try to go into 3rd.
Also, I can push the clutch in barely an inch and it will let me change gears. Is that normal for a stock clutch?

So then I guess it's safe to assume that my clutch has been replaced sometime in the past.....

I wouldnt say so...I have a 01 TA as well with 85K on it and the stock clutch. Mine does the exact same thing as yours...pedal gets mushy from 2-3 shift and even worse from 3-4 shift. Engagement at the top of the pedal is normal on these cars with the stock clutch. Mine is getting replaced next week along with a new slave...I am getting tired of the mushy pedal.

I dont know how so many clutches take a **** so early...of course I only have 26,000 on my stock clutch and its holding up just fine, but who knows...I beat it too. As long as ya dont ride a clutch it will last a while.

I put about 35k on my stocker and it wouldn't hold for **** anymore. I'd have to say if that IS the original clutch... whoever owned it before you didn't drive it the way it was meant to be driven.

I got the service records with my car. Stock clutch went out at 71,000. I am at 117,000 with that replacement and it is holding up fine.

adjustment I would think. It sounds like you need an adjustment and that should take care of the clutch engaging at the top.

29,000 on mine, and it will grab 2nd hard whenever I want, as well as 3rd, it's just harder to hear. I bought it with 25k, so who knows how it was driven before I got it.

I have 80,000 on mine and it sticks too and I can change gears when it's about 2 inches away from the floor too. But I only experience that problem when it's cold outside. It's been acting like a champ since the winter ended, but I think I'll change it before next winter because that was a pain in the ***. I say change it out dude.

Depends on how you drive. My stock clutch (01 Z28) last me a tad over 80,000 miles. That was with about 13 tracks passes on BF Drag Radials and numerous others on street tires. What kills our clutches it the heat that is created by slipping them. Granted my 60 ft times weren't bellow 2.0 I was will willing to sacrifice the few tenths in ET i would gain for clutch longevity.

Min started slipping at about 65,000 miles. It did it on the 1-2 shift. I grabbed second, the rpms skyrocketed (the car didn't), and the pedal went dead. I still beat the 93 Cobra I was racing. It did it one othet time when I pulled out onto a major road. At first I though I spun the tires, but the soft pedal when I went for second told me otherwise. When I pulled out and hit the gas I got an almost instantaneous shiftlight. My flywheel had a whole rainbow of colors on it when it was pulled.
