6, 5, 4th gear??? Tranny questions
Hey, is this normal? When I'm downshifting, going 6th, 5th, 4th gear, it grinds. Wants me to go into 3rd then I can upshift to 4th. Is this normal?
Also thinking bout having tranny "Freshened up" and maybe put a steel 3-4 shift fork in there at same time. How much should this cost me?

Most likely 3/4 synchro keys. Could also be the synchro slider, 4th gear blocker ring, worn shift fork pads.
Rebuild usually runs 250 labor if you pull the tranny.
Parts:
4th gear ~150
steel shift fork $50
blocker ring, keys, shift fork pads come in a basic kit for ~150. This also includes the parts for 1/2 also.
Synchro assembleys run around 150 each.

Sorry to hear about the tranny. This is why I went with a rebuilt one.
If you have ring pliers, press, bearing seperator, and some short/long pullers (~18" or so) you should be able to do it yourself with regular hand tools. Me and a buddy rebuilt his with the blocker ring kit and steel shift fork. Doesnt take very long to rebuild one (~3-4 hours).
