All depends on how you drive, I've seen some with 75k miles on it and I have seen some get replaced with less than 1k miles on it.

street driving, never racing or driving hard.... A LONG TIME...

it COULD break the first time you race....
it could last 30-40 times down the 1/4 ....
if you are gonna race, start saving now...

They are pretty durable. I have always been convinced that there are four 1/4 mile races every mile you drive....

i have a little over 43k miles on my formy....25k of those miles the car was stock, and still raced. at 25k i threw the mods on her and have been racing still...so, it all depends. im surprised that its still holding. since ive been slipping it at the track to get the 60' down...

mine had 73k on the car when I purchased it. it had a stock clutch in it when I replaced it at 110k miles. not much racing till about 108k miles. it is all in how you drive it.

Well that will do it. I am surprised it was the clutch and not the rear. Unless you upgraded that too. What are you running now? A th350 conversion or something?

the rear is a moser 9" 35 spline axle
dennys nitrouse driveshaft
1350 yoke

not breakin those at my level.....(yet )

now the car sports a hughes th400 with transbrake, hughes 4000 stall 2.5 str, and a PIMP pistel grip shifter

its only running 11.5 (2000+da) , we are still working on dailing the new H/C setup in.... by fall we hope to have her complete and ready for spray.....

My car has 94,000 miles on it and this was also the first manual I learned to drive so they last a while. I'm not sure if it's the stock clutch though

I bought my car and now have 78k on it... The first car I learned to drive stick on. I'd like to push it to its limits but seeing I have heads/cam/4.10 gears/and misc other things... i decided to try the SPEC stage 2 out!

Ive also blew up two motors with the stocker.... but if i had to guess... it has many deciding factors but i'd say my stocker has another 78k left in it... I could probably drive mine to 150k!

Goodluck!

Lately, nobody has anything nice to say about Spec's. Spending a g on a clutch and having it die on DR's = that sucks. Lot's of these stories around lately. I'm looking for a clutch to replace my stocker soon. The reason I'm posting is the more I research here on this forum, the more I appreciate the stock clutch.

Sure, the Z06 clutch is not designed to handle 600 rwhp redline clutch dumps on slicks, but it's quality warrants my admiration for it more and more every time I read posts in the clutch section.

IMO, the stocker, handled correctly, can last a LONG time, even with some fun driving.

you dont understand....
most aftermarket.... "i hate this clutch" posts are made after someone does exactly that... a redline dump and it did not hold up....
very few would ever say it was not stronger then the stocker

about 62,000 on mine and it still grabs as good as it did on day 1. It largly depends on your driving habits, but as was said already, if you dont abuse it the stock clutch will last quite a while. Especially if you have an 01+ model which comes with the Z06 clutch and upgraded hydraulics.

Well, for aftermarket, it'd better handle more than the stocker, otherwise there'd be no point in upgrading! Of course, that goes without saying and I see that...

I'm pointing out that out of the many high quality parts and a few low quality ones designed into the F-body by GM, I agree with many here about the high quality of our stocker, and it pleases me to read them.

Remember, unless their honesty is questioned, and even if it is questioned to some degree, they (bad aftermarket clutch experiences) can't all be lying, there are quite a disturbing number of "i hate this clutch" posts that have had the clutch go bad on them with circumstances unrelated to drag racing, some just going bad being broken-in! Out of all the parts/quality discussions on the various parts for our F-body, it's seems undeniable that the aftermarket clutch segment is the most difficult to make heads or tails out of... I've been researching for over three months, and when I think I'm close to making a decision, I'm back to square one with deciding on a clutch! When I ever do get one, I'll be crossing my fingers as it gets installed. I won't be confident with my purchase until it proves itself to me, which differs from so many other segments of aftermarket parts which seem to have the agreed, high-quality expensive parts, the in-between, and the cheap-but-watch-out parts where you have a better clue of what you're getting.

It's just nice to know our stock clutch handles its own so well, in light of these aftermarket clutch dilemmas many are having.

i have 135k on mine. still drive it like i stole it. starting to stick and have to let it out quite a bit before it bites but still doing pretty good for a stock clutch with a first time stick driver.
