In your opinion, will a Z06 clutch hold up to what I will be doing?

Default In your opinion, will a Z06 clutch hold up to what I will be doing?

My car has all the boltons right now, and this month I will be going to a TNT power ring setup (100 hp jets at first) and also adding a 233/239 @ 114 TSP cam and a Moser 9"... I am skeptical about aftermarket clutches (Spec) from reading all the horror stories on here about them, and I have beaten the **** out of my stock clutch which has 51k on it right now and is just starting to slip.

I know that the Z06 is supposed to be rated to 540tq , and I guess I will be right about there using the 150 hp jets on the TNT kit.

I will also be running MT et streets.

I did use the search button, but I am looking for opinions on whether a Z06 clutch is adequite for my setup.

Did I mention that I can get an OEM Z06 clutch + new flywheel, pressure plate and throwout bearing brand new for 368 + tax total?

IMHO it won't work long or at all.My Z06 clutch had less then 10k on it when I installed the cam and got low 12's,it started slipping at that level. If i slipped it slightly off the line for a good launch it would flare up a few hundred rpm on the gearchange but be OK after an hour cool off.I installed a ram HD w/billet fly and never looked back. You get what you pay for and if you race the car you need a better clutch.

I would say no. I broke the ring on the dampner springs on the clutch disk on 3 different ones with just a 100hp TNT f1 kit and thats on bfg dr's. I admit I drive my cars hard but I still dont think it will hold up. I put a cartek in and its doing fine after 2 yrs and 2 transmissions, 1 ds, 1 tq arm. So you know where I would go, but Iam looking at something else just to see whats out there.

You will break it. Spend the money and step up if you do not you will have to later. 400 rwhp and a hot day will wreck havoc on the stock clutch.

No a Z06 wont hold.Nitrous, you need a CLUTCH. Dont buy a spec either & you'll be OK.
You heard my car w/ the same cam.I have a McLeod single in there now, slips @ WOT, w/ 10 K & lots of runs though. Twin disc here I come.

I'd recommend looking at the Textralia clutch.
