I'm worse off than you I have never had a trans apart in my life, but I'm gonna pull my t-56 and learn as I go. I'm just waiting until I buy a second vehicle so I have something to drive. If it gets done here real soon I'll let you know how it goes.

some help for you

http://www.tremec.com/English/media/...ice_Manual.pdf

things you need:

a long-*** gear puller...I had to get a craftsman 2 jaw puller and make much longer extension arms...this is to pull off the 5-6 driven gear

A GOOD set of snap ring pliers...I can't stress this enough...there are ALOT of snap rings that have to be removed during the rebuild process

Propane torch. The shift rail bolts are loctited in and are T-40 torx (small head) bolts. Those bolts will easily snap a t-40 torx bit before you ever break it loose without heat to melt out the loctite

A useful hint, I use a PVC pipe to put all the pieces I pull off the mainshaft in order as I yank them...
