thumping sound when braking

thumping sound when braking at first i thought my torque arm was loose because when i apply the brakes i get a "thumping" that sounds like something is hitting the bottom of the car. i checked the torque arm, everything is tight. i know that when a tranny mount breaks you usually get the thumping when accelerating. could this still be a broken mount? i dont feel anything when i accelerate hard, only when braking.
