what is a pilot and release bearing?

what is a pilot and release bearing? i bought an extended warranty with my car, and looks like my slave cylinder is going out. clutch pedal is not coming back up and i have to pull it with my foot.
the warranty i have will not cover those parts (pilot and release bearings), but didn't say anything about master and slave cylinder. so i'm hoping i can get the warranty to cover that.
