Default Installed Energy Suspension Trans Mount - AWESOME!!!

My 99 TA M6 was having horrible banging & clunking noises on WOT 1-2 shifts and any hard acceleration from a stop or in 1st or 2nd gear.

I knew it was most likely the stock Tranny mount or my catted y-pipe off my Long tubes banging, so I took a chance on the tranny mount, which I hear often cures both problems.

I installed the Energy Susoension Tranny Mount on my 99 TA M6 today.
I did not install the preload spacer bar and I did not grind off the nubs.

All I can say is WOW!!!

No more clunking or banging.

Even better still, my exhaust sounds GREAT inside the car.

I have Long tubes, catted y-pipe, and a stock catback with a flowmaster muffler. It sounded good before, but TOO quiet inside. Now, the exhaust sounds like a RUMBLING MUSCLECAR from inside, I mean SWEET!

There is hardly any nasty vibrations, in fact I like it better than before vibration wise.

If you are getting any banging or clunking due to a tranny mount, DO THIS MOD!

The car feels much more solid than with the stock rubber mount.

Cost of this part, under $25.

Install can be done yourself, or you can have a buddy with a garage & lift do it in 10-15 minutes, like I did.

I did the ES tranny bushing a couple of weeks ago also, and love it. I don't have any "bad" vibrations either. I'm baffled at how so many people say that they couldn't stand the vibration caused by the ES bushing and had to take it out. All I can think of is that something in the drivetrain would have to be bent causing too little clearance at the tranny tunnel with the ES bushing?? Even with the spacer left out and the bumps grounds down, the ES bushing does look SLIGHTLY taller than the stock bushing. Go figure.

I can see how maybe the firmer Prothane mount might be a little too much for some people, but the ES is a perfect compromise between stock and Prothane.

Thats what gets me, there are alot of complaints about the ES bushing even with a compromise in firmness.

I thought the prothane mounts were softer than the ES?

After much hitting of the SEARCH BUTTON I have found:

Prothane (Poly)- hardest - more Noise and Vibration - alot of guys can't take it and swap it out, die hard guys LOVE IT. Best performing, but very harsh, remember it is a performance car, not a Cadillac. Maybe not for a daily driver.

Energy Suspension (Poly) - Middle of the road - not as harsh as Prothane, but not as soft as stock. Firm enough to get rid of the banging and clunking, but not hard enough to transfer ALL of the Vibrations and noises in to the car.
Good for a daily driver.

Stock (rubber) - soft and mushy, quiet ride and no vibrations, great for NORMAL driving, but....

Lots of banging and clunking on hard shifts and hard acceleration in lower gears. Lots of shifter movement. The rubber often tears, plan on replacing often. Even then you will still get some banging and clunking.

Personally, I will deal with slightly more noise and vibration (Energy Suspension) to not have Embarassing and Performance robbing BANGS and CLUNKS.

I must say, my exhaust volume has at least doubled inside the car after the new mount, I can now listen to the stereo and still hear my exhaust LOUD and CLEAR, before I couldn't hear it over even slight volume, now I can crank it up and still hear the BEST MUSIC - the rumble of a HEALTHY V8.

Just go to Auto Zone, it is in the first aisle when you walk in. It is not behind the counter.

The part # is something like 3.1110GC, do a search in this forum, you will find it.

Price is $24.95.

How does changing the trans mount make your exhaust louder in the cabin?

I don't doubt you, but I can't figure this out. Can someone please explain it?

No problem, you will love it.

Remember, don't install the preload plate that comes with it, install it as is without it.

It makes the exhaust louder because, by being firmer it allows more vibrations and resonances in to the cabin, in my case the good ones coming from the exhaust in most cases.

Some people with FIRM mounts can't even hear their exhaust at certain RPMs due to some of the rumbling they feel and hear.

At certain high rpm dopwnshifts I do feel and hear the rumbling vibrations from the drivetrain, but it is not bad at all, but definitely not smooth and quiet like stock.

I like it better, it fits the muscle car persona of the F-body, a guy in a Vette would not go for it in most cases.

It raises the tranny a little higher (might still bang) and transmits much more vibration.

***UPDATE***

The part # is 3.1108GC

It is such an inexpensive part that if yiu are not happy I would give it a try.

Remember, do not install the metal pre-load spacer, just install the mount without it.

Good luck,
