Default Got problems with new flywheel clutch, please help!

ok, i had a spec stg III and spec bullet steel flywheel, they wore out, i bought a new ram pwr grip HD clutch. i was told that i could take my spec steel flywheel and get it resurfaced. i guess it was so bad that they had to take 25 thousands off of it. well, we put a spec spacer by the slave, and put it all back together with the new ram clutch, and sure enough, it isnt working right. its pretty difficult to shift between gears, exspeically reverse, and it engages right off the floor.

what to do, do i need to buy a ram bullet steel flywheel or what?

thanks for any advice.

Default I've had this problem

You need to shim up the slave bearing

i guess the shim/spacer we used was 120 thousands.. rams spacer is 150 thousands. thats such a small differnce, could this really make it work right? its a lot or damn work to pull the tranny and everything again just to try this spacer that is only slightly bigger.

I don't think a measly .030" is really going to help out that much. Do you know if the SPEC flywheel is the same thickness as the Ram when they are new?

Also, you might bleed the system again before tearing it all down. I had air in mine and it did basically the same thing your is doing.

I had the same problem with my SPEC clutch. The shim they sent me wasn't enough. I had to make more shims out of sheet aluminum, it didn't take much. clutch was fine after that.
