Default Questions on the 05 GTO T56

My project is puting a LS2 in my 66 Nova and I want to use a T56 with it. Trying to find the right transmission, I started reading the posts on the GTO T56.
Is this a good trans to use in my application? I was a bit confused on the reference to the "remote shifter". What does that mean?
Any other suggestions on a good unit to use, with the goal being to have a bolt-in, no custom stuff, "easy" installation?

Thanks

The outer case/dimensions are the same as any other T56. The shifter mount is in the identical place. The GTO uses an adapter on the mount to move the shifter back. That's why the shifters suck in the GTO. Way too much linkage/levers. You can bolt a shifter directly to the trans just like all the others.
